Experian Robin Hood Festival of Running 2007 included a half marathon and marathon, with the first half of the marathon being on the same route as the half-marathon. This short video includes short chats with about 20 people taking part. It was an excellent day out and the weather was perfect. The organisation of the event was outstanding.
In August the North Yorkshire Moors becomes a delight to walk or drive through with the purple heather. Although the Yorkshire Dales is renowned for having Dales, also the North Yorkshire Moors has many Dales.

The Royal Birkdale Open Golf 2008 championship starts on July 17th. I visited there in June and walked around the surroundings of the golf course. I could see the massive construction work for all the stands. I hope visiters to the Golf Open also have time to see wonderful Southport.
The 11th Stokesley Charity Ride in aid of the "Celebration of Life after Cancer Charity" on May 11th 2008. The ride had the biggest turnout of 292 cyclists. Andy Kluz (misspelt on YOUTUBE - sorry), a Tyne Tees presenter, came as a supporter of the charity. BikeTraks of Great Ayton provided assistance with bike spares.
The FairTrade Global Journey has been going on for 4 years and has reached England. Two banners have been passed around the world. This is a section of the journey from Hartlepool to Stokesley, the only section where the banner has travelled by bike.
The 2007 Stokesley Show was held on a very sunny day. Due to another outbreak of Foot Mouth Disease DEFRA on September 12th imposed a ban on all Cattle, Sheep and Goat movements which unfortunately seriously affected the Show. However the sunny weather brought out recortd crowds.
Stokesley is a small market town in North Yorkshire. Stokesley was first granted a charter to hold fairs in 1223 by Henry III. The Pack Horse Bridge, crossing the River Leven from the riverside walk, dates from the 17th Century.

In June 2000 GASBAGS cycled from Great Ayton / Stokesley to Scarborough then York and back. This video was taken by myself as I cycled along as we approached Scarborough. Each of the other members is interviewed as they are cycling.
